Hypro Team #2: Ahmad Dokhy

He won the IFBB Pro Nordic overall, moved up to Men's 212, and competed on stages across Europe. Now he works with athletes and serious lifters through Hypro. This is how an IFBB Pro ended up building an app in Oslo.

Hypro Team #2

Ahmad Dokhy is an IFBB Pro bodybuilder and personal trainer based in Oslo, Norway. He won the 2019 IFBB Pro Nordic in Men's Physique, later moved up to the Men's 212 division, and has competed on Pro stages across Europe. At Hypro, he is the person behind our competition prep tools and the trainer athletes turn to when they are serious about stepping on stage.

I met Ahmad through Dawid. They have been close friends for years, and it was actually a conversation between the two of them that led to Hypro existing at all. More on that later.

He is not what you expect from someone who has won a Pro show. No bravado. No sales pitch. Ahmad is one of the calmest people I have met. He listens more than he talks, and when he does say something about training or nutrition, it tends to be the thing you remember a week later. He runs like a machine. Always working on his physique, always preparing, always a few steps ahead of where you think the conversation is going.

The Nordic title and the move to 212

Ahmad proved himself early. At the 2019 IFBB Pro Nordic, he won Men's Physique and took the overall title. First place across the board. For a lot of athletes, that would be the peak. The moment you frame the trophy, post the photos, and ride the wave.

Ahmad went the other direction. He moved up to Men's 212, a division that asks for more size, more muscle maturity, and a completely different kind of conditioning. Deeper field. Harder road. At the 2023 T.R.U. Athlete Pro in London, he placed sixth against competitors from across the world.

He had already won. He chose to start over in a tougher category because standing still did not interest him. That tells you everything about the way he approaches training, his own and yours.

The conversation that started everything

Before Hypro existed, before Dawid reached out to me about building an app, there was a conversation between Ahmad and Dawid. Ahmad came to him and said something along the lines of: "These trainers right now, they are uneducated, they have no experience, they just take people's money and do nothing to fix their technique or actually help them. We need to do something about that. Maybe we should start guiding some of these people properly."

That stuck with Dawid. And it is what eventually made him think about reaching out to me to build a platform where they could manage their clients properly and keep the quality high. So in a real way, Hypro started because Ahmad got frustrated enough to say something about it.

He had been seeing it for years. People spending months with trainers who got certified after a weekend course and had never competed, never prepped anyone, never been through the process themselves. They charged real money and delivered nothing. Their clients ended up confused, overtrained, or worse off than before.

Ahmad had the knowledge. He had lived through Pro-level preps. He understood how the body responds to training and food because he had put himself through it, season after season. So he started helping people. One at a time. Not as a business. Just because he wanted to see them get it right.

If something in your plan is not working, he fixes it the same day. If you are making excuses, he will tell you. No drama. Just honesty and follow-through.

What an IFBB Pro bodybuilding coach actually sees

There is a difference between someone who has studied physiques and someone who has been judged on one. Ahmad has stood under the lights and heard the verdict. He knows what the judges look for because he has been the guy on stage waiting for the score.

When he looks at your body, he reads it the way a competitor would. Which muscle groups overpower the frame. Where the proportions are off. Where there is room that just needs the right stimulus. Most people cannot see those things in themselves. Ahmad spots them in a few minutes.

His nutrition work is the same way. No static meal plan. He builds around your metabolism, your training phase, and your actual goals, then adjusts as things change. He learned that by prepping himself for Pro stages, where getting the timing wrong by a few days can cost you a placing.

The body does not respond to effort alone. It responds to the right effort, at the right time, with the right fuel. That is what separates guessing from actually knowing what you are doing.

The first conversation is honest. Ahmad will look at your physique, ask what you want, and tell you straight what it takes to get there. If he can help, he puts together an offer. If not, he says so. There is no upsell.

If you are preparing for stage, he runs the full process. Offseason programming around your weak points. Nutrition that shifts as your body changes through prep. Peak week protocols he has tested on himself, on his own stages. Posing work from a guy who has been scored on it. When prep gets hard mentally, and it always does, he stays close.

If competition is not your thing, the method does not change, just the destination. Ahmad programs for lifters who want a better physique, want to get stronger, or just want to stop guessing. The same attention goes into it. He does not switch off because you are not stepping on stage.

And when life gets in the way, he does not disappear. He builds a bridge plan so you always have something to follow. When you are back, the next phase is already waiting.

Ahmad's role in building Hypro

Once Dawid reached out to me about building something, Ahmad was there from day one.

He brought what Dawid and I could not. Neither of us had lived through IFBB Pro competition prep as an athlete. The peak week protocols, the way a program needs to shift week by week across a 16-week prep, the daily check-ins in the final stretch before a show. You cannot build tools for that world without someone who has been through it.

Ahmad looked at what we were making and told us, bluntly, what worked and what missed. The competition prep features in Hypro exist because he walked us through how the process should actually flow. Not theory. His own preps, his own athletes.

He is not a name on the team page. He is the reason the idea exists.
