Incline Dumbbell Curl

How to perform the Incline Dumbbell Curl

  1. 1Sit on an incline bench set at about 45–60 degrees, lean your back fully against it, let your arms hang straight down with a dumbbell in each hand, and keep your feet flat on the floor. Turn your palms forward and keep your shoulders relaxed and still.
  2. 2Curl the dumbbells up toward your shoulders by bending your elbows, squeezing your biceps at the top without letting your elbows drift forward. Lower the weights back down slowly under control, fully stretching your biceps, and breathe out as you curl up and in as you lower down.

Coach tips

  • Keep your upper arms pinned close to your sides so your biceps do the work instead of your shoulders swinging the weight. Use a slow, controlled lowering phase to protect your elbows and get more muscle growth. Choose a weight that lets you move smoothly without arching your back or shrugging your shoulders.
