How to perform the Wide Grip Pullover
- 1Stand facing a high cable with the bar attached, grab it with a wide overhand grip, step back, and hinge slightly at your hips with soft knees, arms straight but not locked, chest up, and abs tight.
- 2Keeping your arms at the same slight bend, sweep the bar down in a wide arc toward your thighs using your lats, pause when your hands reach in front of your hips, then slowly let the bar return overhead; breathe out as you pull down and in as you let it rise.
Coach tips
- Keep your ribs down and abs braced so your lower back doesn’t arch and take over the movement.
- Think about pulling with your armpits or driving your upper arms toward your back pockets instead of yanking with your hands.
- Use a weight you can control smoothly for the full stretch and squeeze, without swinging or bouncing.
