How to perform the EZ-Bar Preacher Curl (Narrow Grip)
- 1Sit on the preacher bench with your chest against the pad, plant your feet on the floor, and rest the back of your upper arms flat on the sloped pad while holding the EZ bar with a close underhand grip. Slide your hips so your armpits are close to the top of the pad and your wrists feel comfortable on the bar.
- 2Curl the bar up toward your shoulders in a smooth, controlled motion, squeezing your biceps at the top without letting your upper arms lift off the pad. Lower the bar slowly until your arms are almost straight and you feel a stretch in your biceps, breathing out as you curl up and in as you lower down.
Coach tips
- Keep your chest gently against the pad and your upper arms glued to it so you don’t swing or use your shoulders.
- Don’t lock out your elbows at the bottom; stop just before straight to protect your joints and keep tension on your biceps.
- Let your wrists stay straight and relaxed on the bar instead of bending them back, which can strain your forearms.
